The Problem

Sports betting has grown into a multi-billion-dollar industry, especially in markets like Nigeria, where millions of active users place bets daily. However, the ecosystem presents several major challenges.

Many talented punters lack sufficient capital to maximise their strategies. Users fund their own bets and absorb all losses. There is little accountability, risk management, or skill evaluation. A punter can be highly skilled but have no verifiable performance history. Even profitable bettors struggle to grow without external funding.

This created a gap: how do we build a platform that identifies skilled bettors, removes financial barriers, and creates monetisation opportunities?

The Opportunity

The Select Punter identified a unique opportunity to build a prop-firm model for sports betting, inspired by proprietary trading firms. Instead of funding traders, the platform funds punters — creating a scalable revenue model, stronger user retention, community-driven competition, and monetisation through subscriptions and profit splits.

The Solution

The Select Punter was designed around four core product pillars.

PaperBet (Risk-Free Entry Point)

PaperBet allows users to place simulated bets using virtual balances. This serves as a learning environment, a strategy-testing platform, and a funnel into the funded challenge. Key features include virtual account balances, real-time odds, session-based tracking, performance analytics, and resettable balances. PaperBet lowers the entry barrier and builds trust.

Evaluation Program

The evaluation system determines whether a punter is eligible for funding. Admin Infrastructure
